Description

Woven jacquard fabric is a fabric with a design or pattern woven directly into it using a special loom. The loom, invented in 1804 by French weaver Joseph Marie Jacquard, breaks down the weaving process into binary choices, such as whether to lift the yarns, to create intricate patterns. This process allowed weavers to produce complex patterns on a mass scale for the first time.
